Slobber
Self Titled Semi-Discography (Never Mind the Plagarism Records)

To be a truly enigmatic band in the hardcore/punk scene is a feat in and of itself but to be that enigma and still be really, really cool is almost unheard of. Of course most SLOBBER songs were also unheard... but that is not the point. The now defunct SLOBBER have finally been immortalized on CD in a total DIY project from Never Mind The Plagarism (sic) Records. For those not in the know, SLOBBER were a totally outrageous band from Redwood City, California who seemingly delighted in doing things that were out of the ordinary even by punk standards. Their sloppy and undisciplined sound undulated across the entire punk spectrum. From one song to the next they might be reminiscent of a pop punk band, a drunk punk band, a power violence band or a thrash band. They might sound like THE GERMS in a cement mixer one minute and BLATZ doing NAPALM DEATH covers the next. Whatever they did and however they sounded it was always obvious they were having fun. In fact, based on the live show captured on this disc, I daresay they were having more fun than their "fans" a lot of the time. You gotta hear this live set. It is goes from fun to funny. It is kinda hard to follow it all with just audio but basically the band were playing at a college to a massive crowd of about 6 people. A lady nearby was trying to study and finally got fed up and unplugged the band and ran off. The person recording the show ran after her with a handheld tape recorder and got her to commit her opinion of the band to tape. SLOBBER starts playing again so this lady gets the dean to come and shut the band down. Well all is well that ends well. The band were paid $100 and allowed to come back the next night to do their whole set. Not too shabby. The CD is a limited/had numbered release and each disc is made on order!
