Second Skin
Skin Samples (Euphoria Productions)

By: Sonya Brown

This cd is fun! "Stab me in the back, I'm your VooDoo doll... Shoot me through the head while I'm kneeling". Oh, I can dance to that! This cd rocks with just enough sex to make it provocative; but the really wonderful thing about Skin Samples is the hidden track, a delightful cover version of David Bowie's "Let's Dance".

Second Skin is yet another band introduced to me by the Cleopatra Compilation "Unquiet Grave" (with their contribution "Sweet Nothing"). They have appeared on several Cleopatra compilations, including the tribute to the Sisters of Mercy under the band name "Flesh of My Flesh"; and yet another Cleopatra comp, "New Wave Goes to Hell", with their version of "You Spin Me Round". "Let's Dance" also appears on the new Goth Oddity Tribute to David Bowie (Vol. 2) released by Cleopatra. Second Skin also has a full length cd "Choir Invisible", on Euphoria Productions.

Abundant guitars, film samples, and astute programming matched with Arron's flowing dark vocals turn Skin Samples into a 4-song EP (and don't forget that bonus 5th track) that I quite enjoy. Let's Dance!
