Scalplock On Whose Terms? (Sound Pollution) By: Jeb Branin
Hyper-political and hyper-thrashing seems to be a combination that serves SCALPLOCK well. "On Whose Terms?" is another wrathful soapbox of ultra-raging hardcore the band mounts to educate the extreme music underground (and anyone else who might choose to listen) as to the plight of indigenous peoples the world over who pay a dear price for the rest of the world's "progression". SCALPLOCK uses their music as a tool to address broad scale socio-political issues which in the hands of a less skilled band it might come across as trite but as presented are very forceful and resounding. Their violent music and concerned lyrics have actually allowed some people to take potshots at them as "fascists" who call for 1st world intervention in 3rd world nations as a means of controlling them. What a total pile of crap. SCALPLOCK calls for involvement and education not intervention and then only as a means for reparation for past ills and as a balancing of the worlds scales of distributed wealth. An admirable stance driven by mind-numbing hardcore fury. You gotta appreciate it on every level.
