Justin Mikulka Move Toward The Exit (One Mad Son) By: Alex Steininger
Slightly psychedelic pop-rock songs intertwined with trippy singer-songwriter folk, Justin Mikulka is caught between writing half-driven psychedelic rock songs and tender acoustic folk songs. The result is an album full of acid-trip adventures. When the folk-pop is Mikulka's main focus with the acoustic guitar, he writes memorable, warming, emotional songs that could really make an impact. But instead of sticking with that, he tries to add a full band to the songs, clouding them up and leaving you wondering if he knows he's suffocating the songs. I'll give it a C-.
