Dear John Letters Rewriting The Wrongs (Roam Records) By: Alex Steininger
Dear John Letters are quite the collection of music. They're not easily labeled; their sound is more than pop, rock, or even folk. It is a delightful mix of pop melodies, rock momentum, and some precious folk-esque moments. From sweet vocals, soft relaxation, and some jolting, guitar-fueled numbers, Dear John Letters are quite diverse. They're able to play to the coffee set, take a break, and come back and hit you with a full on rock show. Or they can rock you, give you a few slow songs to bring you down, and knock you down when you're not expecting it. Punchy, melodic, and even gorgeous at times, they write pop songs that stick in your head and warm up your heart. I'll give it an A-.
