A Life Once Lost The Fourth Plague: Flies (Robotic Empire) By: Jeb Branin
Although this apt to get lost in the overabundance of "math metal" and "technical hardcore" bands infesting the underground, it really shouldn't be. Unlike most of their peers A LIFE ONCE LOST have a lot of individuality and distinction. They are not afraid to flex any of their muscles. Some songs are built on a machine-gun firing chugga-chugga hardcore riffs, some are reminiscent of PRONG influenced digi-core, while others are pure metal with all of the bone-splintering heaviness one would hope for. The band is technically complex and each band member displays a virtuoso's mastery of their instruments but they also know the value not letting their showing off jeopardize the song. A very impressive effort from a band that you may very well be mentioning in the same breath as DEP someday soon.
