Unwritten Law Elva (Interscope) By: Alex Steininger
Unwritten Law's brand of punk has always been off-the-wall, to say the least, and anything but pop-punk. It's a mesh of hard rock, made-for-radio anthems, barroom mayhem, and even some metal for good measure. The outcome is Elva, a suburban teen approved hard rock/punk record that won't ruffle any feathers, but will bring the pop-punk-metal to the suburb kids. And despite all that, there are glowing moments like "Actress, Model", a hook-laden, bouncy modern rock sing-along, that will make you think this record is pretty good. Truth be told, it is. I'll give it a B-.
