Benett
Welcome To The Jungle (March Records)

By: Alex Steininger

Benett's Welcome To The Jungle is an electric-folk meets indie-pop delight. A record that has the quaint-ness and intimacy of folk without squashing the melodies behind hushed guitars and faint acoustic strums. Instead, Benett picks up an electric guitar, infusing her folk with ample portions of indie pop. Delivering bright melodies and more than one gleaming hook-laden moment, ensuring that her songs won't go forgotten, as you hear the album once and start to crave it, eventually humming along before you know all the words. This is anti-delicate pop music that is strong willed and emotional, but not emotional to the point of hurting the songs or the album. I'll give this a B+.
