The Red Chord
Fused Together in Revolving Doors (Robotic Empire)

By: Jeb Branin

I had never heard of this band and had no point of reference whatsoever when I slapped this in the ole' CD player. Well by the end of the first song I found myself scooping my splattered brains back into my pulverized skull. This is so over the top diehard grindcore fans will be left groveling in the dirt, crying for their mommies. This CD may be the ULTIMATE amalgamation of death metal, hardcore and grindcore. All those hyper-extreme DEP inspired bands that have been flirting with the line between pure metallic rage and hardcore angst might as well just move out of the way because THE RED CHORD has jumped way over that line. Hell, they've obliterated the line. Only DEP themselves and the mighty BURNT BY THE SUN have the massive wall of sound to stand as equals to THE RED CHORD. I tend to think of DEP as approaching their sound from the hardcore angle and BBTS as coming to their sound with a grindcore approach and I have to say that THE RED CHORD seem to be heading the same direction but from a death metal perspective. Maybe that's it... With THE RED CHORD we have completed the unholy trinity of neo-extreme mu(sick). Don't believe me? Well then you haven't heard this CD yet have you?
