Gothic Doom Metal, Power Metal, and Progressive Metal - 3 CD Set (Spitfire)

 In an attempt to both educate the unfamiliar and entertain the diehard, Spitfire records has unloosed a series of compilations called "The Metal Years" with each CD in the series dedicated to a different sub-genre of underground metal. The first three are Gothic Doom Metal, Power Metal, and Progressive Metal. The bands on the CDs are all well known and well established in the upper echelons of the metal underground and are bands you find on labels like Century Media, Relapse, Nuclear Blast, Noise, SPV, Black Mark, Earache, Metal Blade, and, yes, Spitfire. I would be stunned if these compilations weren't discount priced but the real question will be if they are better priced than the label samplers available from almost all the aforementioned labels...
