The Clientele
Lost Weekend EP (Acuarelera)

 The Clientele released one of the loveliest records in 2000 with Suburban Light. Lost Weekend is the first proper recording the band has released since then and it slightly takes a detour from the album's direction. More cinematic and artsy, the EP still encompasses the band's magical, hazy sound, but instead of a continuous flow of delightful pop songs, The Clientele throws in some instrumentals that sound perfect for an Antonionni or Godard film. "Boring Postcard" and "Last Orders" are idealistic pieces of beauty, both containing sad feelings of nothingness. The remaining songs, "North School Drive", "Emptily Through Holloway" and "Kelvin Parade" are all picture-perfect Clientele cuts. They really don't know how to write a poor tune, and this delightful recording continues their tradition. A
