The Soundtrack of Our Lives
Behind the Music (Universal Records)

By: Alex Steininger

Flawlessly produced, full on pop-rock, The Soundtrack of Our Lives manage to appease indie purists and corporate fed-rockers alike with their tight, melodic brand of harmonious pop. The songs don't jump out and grab you; they don't need to. Instead, they prefer to bask in the cooler temperatures of evening, before the sun has gone down, but after the temperature for the day has already reached its highest point. There they find the middle ground of pop, able to channel the darkness of dusk with the lighthearted, playful, and warm vibes of the afternoon. And it is there they thrive, creating a true pop gem, one that doesn't find a hair out of place, though still maintains enough character and edge to shake you up and make you feel the power they're running on. I'll give it a B+.
