The Sights Got What We Want (Fall of Rome) By: Alex Steininger
The Sights' Got What We Want is an excellent update of 60's garage-pop. The trio writes bouncy, melodic songs ripe with electric guitar noise, giving it a juicy rock touch, while creating danceable rhythms that would be right at home alongside mop-top bands of the era. However, It is The Sights' garage sound that gives them their edge and, surprisingly, makes them so versatile. They can weave between straight-ahead pop and roaring garage mayhem, sounding like the neighborhood band that made it out of the area and onto the radio, delivering a well-produced arsenal of songs with enough grit to walk the wire between 60's AM radio and 70's mainstream guitar rock. If only this was released a few decades ago, these guys could have been stars. I'll give it a B+.
