Deuces, T's, Roadsters & Drums (Sundazed)

 Those who might be declined to dismiss this latest find from the fine folk over at Sundazed as yet some other exercise in American Movie Classics-sanctioned nostalgia simply never have heard drums played quite the way Hal "Drummer Man" Blaine plays drums... and continues to to this very day, by the way. (of course, if you own many top-40 records from the '60s, then of course you HAVE heard Hal Blaine play drums; he powers quite a lot of them).This double-sized re-release of the Drummer Man's 1963 RCA album, recorded in cahoots with none other than Lee Hazlewood, literally speeds through all of the coolest musical moods of the day, from surf to (drag) strip, making it SO much more than just some long-lost session tape from the "Fireball 500" soundtrack. PS: And the D-man's very own "(Dance With The) Surfin' Band" composition stomps like nothing less than some beach blanket bust-up between The Blossoms and The Honeys. So there! (PPS: Those who crave additional study on this percussive subject are also directed towards VeeJay Records' inimitable "Hear The Beatles Tell All!" platter too, not to mention Hal's spot-on "Vegetables" promo from the B. Boys' own "Hawthorne, CA." disc, as raved over in last month's IMWT!)
