C'Mon Let's Pretend (Jetset Records)

 Grittier and rawer than their U.S. debut, Jennie Bomb, the Sahara Hotnights' C'Mon Let's Pretend, the band's 1999 debut, makes its way onto U.S. shores for the first time as a domestic release. Delivering punk rock, slight rock-a-billy ("Drive Dead Slow"), and fuzzy, guitar-driven pop, C'Mon Let's Pretend finds the Swedish female quartet playing it loud, unabashed, and fierce, as they weave between melodic, hook-laden rough spots and fast, furious, no-hold-barred rock goodness. This is an early look into a band that, while still developing, has the chops and skills to even make their first album stand up against their current and forthcoming output. I'll give it a B+.
