Mensen
Oslo City (Gearhead Records)

By: Scott D. Lewis

Okay, they might not be able to take Kittie, but it's fairly certain that Mensen could knockout the Donnas in about two minutes, which just happens to be about the average length of their blazing hotrod songs. This three-chicks-and-a-dick group from Norway certainly wear their love of the Runaways on the studded leather sleeves, but they are also influenced by more choppy contemporary punk bands such as the Hellacopters and Gluecifer. Showing considerable growth and polish since their previous barn-burner, Delusions of Grandeur, > Oslo City is bursting at the seams with charging, buzzing guitars, stampeding rhythms and sputtering sing-along anthems about taking charge and kicking ass, complete with requites hoots and hollers. Fast, furious and frolicking fun, with Mensen on the loose, Oslo just might become the city that never sleeps.
