Making the transition from nu-folk hero as half of Kings of Convenience to electro-pop wonder seems to have been too easy for Nordic songsmith Erlend Oye. For his debut solo album, Oye selected ten artists to produce ten tracks in ten different cities around the world. Produced by the band Soviet, "Sheltered Life" is a low-key slab of electro that bounces along without ever revealing why it is a single. Its simplicity and inability to generate anything more than robotic emotions make it attractive, but the only version that seems to work in this format his own Karl Marx All?e remix, which is a little friendlier to the dance floors. B-
