Vue
Babies Are For Petting (RCA Records)

By: Alex Steininger

San Francisco garage rock act Vue's RCA Records debut, the Babies Are For Petting EP is a call above the rest of the blues-inspired, punk-tinged garage rock band revivalists that line the current indie climate. Babies Are For Petting follow two solid full-lengths on Sub Pop, and prove The Vue's combination of substance, style, and plenty of attitude is a formula that indeed does work. From the swagger of the title track, a more updated take on The Stones' original blues-rock sound. Through the more poppy (but still very garage) offering of "It Won't Last", and through "Look Out For Traffic," an energetic, hook-laden garage-punk song, the Vue seemed to be locked into the punch and ready to mow down others who do the same thing, but not as good. I'll give it a B.
