Frank Jordan Milk the Thrills (Devil in the Woods) By: Alex Steininger
On their second full-length, the California trio known as Frank Jordan (with no member of the band named Frank Jordan) delves into post-punk inspired indie-rock. They deliver a controlled, but still noisy offering of guitar-led, lo-fi informed rock 'n' roll that swims in fuzz and crashing drums, singing from the heart with a no-bullshit approach, keeping things simple and stripped down to the core essentials. Milk the Thrills is a solid, modest offering from a rock band that puts a lot of power and drive into their songs and, though not sounding outright original or even memorable at times, still writes sturdy, good indie-rock songs that should be given a chance. I'll give it a B-.
