Laguardia Laguardia (Minimalist Recording Company) By: Alex Steininger
Laguardia's self-titled full-length examines loose indie-rock as the band moves through ten tracks, ranging in form from a folk-based indie style to a jagged, bouncy rock format - complete with some slight screaming. Though, whatever method they touch, they make sure the listener connects. The majority of the record is more toned down and settled, but the more unsettling moments when the band decides to shake things and rock out, like the album's opener, is where the band really shines. Still, their more fragile, softer stuff is equally as compelling, just not as easy to jump or bounce around with. I'll give it a B-.
