Buffseeds Sparkle Me (Fantastic Plastic) By: Cam Lindsay
Coming from Fantastic Plastic, a label that can boast for having Ikara Colt and The Beatings as artists on the roster, Buffseeds are a large disappointment. Because the aforementioned bands thrive on a wired, chaotic energy, the Buffseeds' brand of sincere guitar pop fails to ignite any type of spark. This kind of music has been done to death and by much better bands than this. If you can remember JJ72 from about four years ago, you know the Buffseeds. The same in virtually every way -- nasally male vocalist, light then fuzzy guitars and substandard pop hooks -- only the fact that Buffseeds' singer Kieran Scragg doesn't sing about ridiculously morbid thoughts gives them a very slight upper hand.
