 If more black metal bands sounded like IMPALED NAZERENE the world would be a better place. Instead of trying to sound like some third-rate opera with "symphonic" and "atmospheric" undertones, I.N. play harsh and unrelenting black thrash that owes more to hardcore and 80s German thrash metal than it does to corpse painted Scandinavians. Even lyrically they are more palatable than most of their peers. That said it is still easier to enjoy the music if you don't read the lyrics. Of course, that's a rule of thumb with most black metal.
