Forget Cassettes
Instruments of Action (Theory 8 Records)

By: Alex Steininger

Female-fronted, dissonant indie-rock with a taste of the ethereal, Forget Cassettes keeps things fairly even keel on Instruments of Action, though they have their noisy outbursts, too, including the loud, abrasive "Ms. Rhythm and Blues" or the soft-to-loud action of "Bruce Wayne". However, the majority of the album is more mellow, light guitar, primitive rhythms, creating a wall that is more white noise than bleed-your-ear noise. The band sounds best when the amps are turned up and they're rocking out, as the quieter, not exactly softer material seems to be lacking. I'll give it a C+.
