Rediscovering the Dead (Self Made God)

By: Jeb Branin

Rediscovering the Dead by SEWN SHUT is a retrospective collection for fans unable to collect the vinyl. It features 29 tunes harvested from five split EPs and the Polargrinder compilation. All of the songs were recorded during 2001 and 2002. If you aren't familiar with SEWN SHUT, you ought to be, especially if you are a fan of the grind. Although not a band that really stands out as pioneers, nor one that does anything truly unique with the sound, SEWN SHUT are still a band of note in the scene simply because they are such purists. Seriously. Their ruthless and unremitting sound is best described as "pure" grindcore. It goes for the throat, latches on, and never lets go. Their music is like a rabid pit bull and your ears are like a juicy baby bunny.
