Amusement Parks On Fire
Amusement Parks On Fire (Fliter U.S. Recordings)

By: Alex Steininger

Hailing from Nottingham, England, Michael Feerick wrote and performed all the songs on Amusement Parks On Fire's self-titled full-length, then assembled a band to tour behind it. Writing noisy, guitar-drenched rock nuggets (sans the occasional soft, airy song featuring piano, such as "The Ramones Book"), here is a record that is loud and combustible, but still contained, offering up a record that is not Brit-pop nor indie-rock, and not psychedelic either. However, it contains elements of all underneath the bed of bristling, swarming guitar sounds that layer each track. Both meditative and poppy, depending on what moments you catch the song, Feerick has written the rare introspective noise-pop record that will find many asking, "who is this guy? And what's next?" I'll give it a B+.
