Beseech
. . .From a Bleeding Heart (Metal Blade Records)

By: Jeb Branin

Take the image of ADAM AND THE ANTS circa the "Prince Charming" album and graft it onto a tolerable quasi-doom outfit and you get a feel for BESEECH. Musically they have the flavor of the new wave of death-doom but with a more straight forward delivery than many. Sometimes it works for them and other times it is a bit too tedious and ponderous for my tastes. Probably the most annoying thing about the band is the fact that their best music is centered around the soaring female vocals of Anna Anderson who is not a member of the band. The end result, it seems to me, is that BESEECH end up playing second fiddle to a guest artist. Pretty sad.
