Berline, Crary, Hickman Chambergrass (Sugar Hill Records) By: Mark A. Lawrence the IV
Berline, Crary, Hickman (BCH) look like a bluegrass band (middle aged men with hairlines going north) in their photos, but they play like masters on Chambergrass, an album that collects the bands material from the last ten years. There styling of instrumental songs is a highbred of Bluegrass that mixes traditional Irish music with aspects of roots elements gathered from every corner of our great country. What these men can do with four instruments is amazing, with their intensity reaching the same level as speed metal, tapping into the same energy, but with acoustic instruments in a bluegrass median. If you're a fan of instrumental bluegrass, or just looking to discover something new, this is a great album to pick-up. Rating: B.
