Help Wanted
The Return of Monkey Face (self-released)

By: Jeb Branin

HELP WANTED are the pop act that most of the bands on MTV wished they were. Snappy hooks, intertwined male/female vocals and pure class allow HELP WANTED to forge a distinctive identity in the current cess pool of mediocre pop acts. Their mix of mature song writing is contrasted by a sense of fun that is alternatingly frivolous and intelligent. Tracks two and three, "Calm Me Down" and "Churchill" respectively, are probably the tunes that best define HELP WANTED. Both songs have been cemented in my head for weeks... nothing shy of a lobotomy is going to get them out. And if that isn't quintessentially pop, I don'r know what is.
