Adramelech
Seven (Repulse Records)

By: Jeb Branin

This MCD was released by the band so that they would have something on the market to tide their fans over between full length projects as well as document, in some small way, their triumphant march across Europe on the Repulsive Assault Tour '97. Like so many struggling bands ADRAMELECH have had a real problem maintaining a steady lineup. This MCD features a different group than the last tour which was different than the debut album and already the band have rebuilt themselves again so that the next full length will feature different players than this ep. All the flux can't be good for the band as far as developing consistency but it certainly helps them keep a fresh edge and not get too settled. Evidence of this can be heard in the music which merges total death brutality with more subtle and melodic moments. The first two tunes on "Seven" are the newest and are also the more melodic. A hint as to the future approach of the band? I don't know but it certainly seems likely. If you enjoy harsh death with class and control then this is for you and it is definitely worth your while because you'll get all that and more with ADRAMELECH.
