The World Is My Fuse
Drunk b/w Happy (Up My Dose) 7" (Espo Records)

By: Alex Steininger

Hailing from Allston, Massachusetts, The World Is My Fuse mix rock 'n' roll, emo, punk, and even some faint hardcore to come up with their gigantic rock 'n' roll sound. "Drunk," the A-side to this 7", though, finds the band lost inside their own noise. The song is typical modern rock with some softer points that stand out, but are all but forgotten when the hard rockin' portions of the song come back. "Happy (Up My Dose)," on the other hand, is a solid rock song plentiful with pop hooks. The band manages to rock out and pull you in with some sweet pop, chord after chord, never leaving any doubt about how infectious they can be. The A-side is obviously the wrong choice, but "Happy" is a winner. I'll give it a B-.
