House of Large Sizes
Idiots Out Wandering Around (What Are Records?)

By: Alex Steininger

Born and raised on bands like Husker Du, The Replacements, and various other seminal Midwest rock 'n' roll bands, House of Large Sizes deliver the goods on their sixth album to date, Idiots Out Wandering Around, a sweat-soaked live album that catches the band at their best.

A band like House of Large Sizes is good on disc. But, live they're 110% better. So, suffice to say, to experience this band, you have to experience them live. And, unlike the majority of live albums out there, Idiots Out Wandering Around captures the band's live feel and sound on tape.

Plowing through live staples like "School Is A Drag," "I Have My Doubts," "Albion Cut-Off," "Loaded Gun," "Ball Dropper," and "Carpool Lung," House of Large Sizes brings the excitement of their live show to you.

But, don't let the disc deceive you. To experience this band, you still need to see them live. However, this "greatest hits" or "career compilation" to date, however you want to look at it, brings you closer to the live experience than ever before.

Grab a beer or two, some buddies, and blast this record at home, because the House of Large Sizes is bringing down the house. They have mastered the minute and a half to three minute pop song, rarely (if ever) going over three minutes. They say what they need to say and then they get out, leaving you dazed and confused on the floor, wondering what just happened. HOLS rule the house on Idiots Out Wandering Around, there is no doubt about that. I'll give it an A+.
