Firewater Psychopharmacology (Jetset Records) By: Alex Steininger

Firewater's Psychopharmacology is a medicine cabinet filled with various over-the-counter and prescription drugs. From the cough-syrup effect of the title track (it tastes great on the way down and makes you feel better, even if it's only a placebo effect), through the waves of headache relieving aspirin songs, depression correcting mood numbers, and some attention deficit disorder-fighting remedies, the album has the cure for whatever ails you. It can charge at you with full-throttle rock, deliver soothing pop and delicate folk, or just let it all lay out on the line with some quirky avant garde-esque pop-rock-whatever. Here is an album that will represent 2001 in years to come. I'll give it an A+.
