Time Spent Driving
Walls Between Us (Sessions Records)

By: Alex Steininger

Much like a pop song is known for the verse-chorus-verse structure, emo-rock has come to be defined as soft-loud-soft. Holding Time Spent Driving to this standard, they certainly qualify as emo. Their songs are soaked with pain, which seeps out at every possible corner. They reel you in with soft painfulness before throwing you down with some loud punk rock. They don't really break new ground or really add anything to emo-rock. However, they play it with heart; their sound is real and warrants a listen or two. If you give them a chance, I'm sure their burning rhythms and broken hearts will cry to you enough that you'll keep listening. I'll give this a B.
