Mark Lemhouse
Big Lonesome Radio (Yellow Dog Records)

By: Alex Steininger

Nashville-by-way-of-Portland blues man Mark Lemhouse's latest solo offering, Big Lonesome Radio, sounds steps ahead of its years. Lemhouse's voice swaying between a 65 year old black man and a thirty something white man (which he is), the contrast helping the songs to breathe, and thus thrive as he goes about his roots-blues sound, implementing country, folk, and even some western swing into the mix. This is late night, blurry-eyed blues for countrymen and trail travelers. I'll give it a B+.
