 Ray Wylie Hubbard's latest, Growl finds the story-telling progressive country rocker at his peak, weaving tales of characters and individuals you either want to know or ignore, while delivering them in an edgy, I've-been-there voice. The real thrill, though, is the music, which, at times just dangles there as Hubbard's voice becomes the driving force, and at other times gives the juice to Hubbard's voice to make the steam engine go. I'll give it a B.
