Pinkeye d'Gekko Rhythm & Westrn (Force MP Entertainment) By: Alex Steininger

Fusing funk, soul, country, and 80's rock (aka with lots of saxophone) can be a tough task. Pinkeye d'Gekko proves it can be fun. But, ultimately, it's a chore on the listener as Pinkeye d'Gekko weave and jump from sound to sound, losing themselves, and anything resembling uniformity, as they have a blast, but take the listener on a rocky journey of sounds that are challenging to digest. Rhythm & Westrn (is it a spelling error on the album? Or did they purposely spell Western wrong?) proves the band has talent, can write a good, solid song, and can make you dance. But if only they could focus their energy and write a bit more cohesively, then, and maybe then, their albums would hold up for more than a few listens. I'll give this a C-.
