Themselves The No Music (Anticon) By: Alex Steininger
Themselves' The No Music, their debut full-length, pushes the envelope of hip-hop, fusing ambient and electronica sounds, creating an atmospheric record that uses both space and power to confront and conquer its listeners. The lyricism is bold and poetic, while the music is equally as compelling, trading on its diversity, pulling it all together to shake up underground hip-hop, turning it around, and setting it on fire. This is a solid collection of songs that will peak the curiosity of any hip-hop fan. I'll give it a B+.
