The Kiss of Death
The Kiss of Death (Tribunal)

By: Mike SOS

Former members of hardcore stalwarts Turmoil have reshuffled its lineup, comprising the crusty metal clan The Kiss of Death. Retaining the bottom-heavy crunch of its previous meal ticket, this quintet's five-track, over 25 minute offering steers the ship in a more stoner/ dirty rock movement, citing such bands as Eyehategod and Superjoint Ritual as compadres. Thick, meaty riffs clash with vocals that sound like utterances of a suspect in a chokehold on "Novocain", while the incessantly hypnotic thunderous bass and drum combo chips little pieces of what's left of your eardrums away. The Kiss of Death have got the hardcore breakdowns, too, and when mixed with laconic, spacious churners like "Commence Reprogramming!!", be prepared for the chaos.
