Holy Sons I Want To Live A Peaceful Life (Film Guerrero) By: Alex Steininger
The musical outlet for Portland, Oregon-based singer-songwriter Emil Amos, Holy Sons' latest, I Want To Live A Peaceful Life finds Amos handling a variety of instruments, as well as the production duties, among other things. With the help of friends from other bands, including Jackie-O Motherfucker, Grails, and Moss Icon, Amos delivers the band's most accessible release, all without losing his dedication to sparse, lingering notes and whispery, hushed melodies. I Want To Live A Peaceful Life isn't without its rock influences, though they will be only found buried underneath his otherwise light compositions. But, when noise is needed, he adds enough juice to keep things from becoming stale or slumbering, ensuring that you can stay awake and attentive throughout this album. Unless, of course, you're looking for the perfect disc to slumber to, than his frail, airy notes and rich, laid-back voice will do just the trick. I'll give this a B.
