Jason Shain Sooner or Later (Sleveless Records) By: Alex Steininger
Folk-based, but a lot more rocking, twisted together with some roots/Americana, Jason Shain's Sooner or Later, fares better than most generic singer-songwriters. His voice isn't anything to set him apart from others, but his storytelling and lyrical ability are. His shining ability is to tell a story like no other, draw you in as small town life and a longing for more, while retaining happiness in the familiar, run through this record as love plays a big role in the adventures and roads Shain's songs take. Sooner or Later is a blossoming record from a man about ready to hit his stride, working out all the bumps and kinks on the way to some of his best material. "No Other Man", "Holloway", and "I Saw Her First" are three of the album's highest moments. I'll give it a C.
