Donnybrook Out of Print (self-released) By: Mike SOS

Donnybrook is a Rhode Island based metal troupe whose genre-jumping style keeps the listener's ears on point during the band's 17-track disc. There are hearty helpings of metal smattered all over Out of Print from the grueling "Savage Taste" to the punishing "Gehehnamericana", sounding like a cross between Slipknot, Mushroomhead, and Glassjaw. There's also a sense of deep ceded evil purveyed in tracks like the tribal "Beautiful World" that while understated, still packs a wallop. Mixing the surge of today's extreme metal with cascading melodies and more experimental elements a la Faith No More and Tool, Donnybrook's latest album indicates the clan to be a true metal juggernaut on par with any left of center metal group on today's landscape.
