The Delores Lesion (The End Records)

By: Jeb Branin

LILITU play an immensely challenging and provocative brand of post-black metal. The Delores Lesion has all the intensity and aggression that metal needs to ensure vibrancy but skillfully utilizes melody and gothic tinged embellishments for an artfully blended sound that is rich in texture and passion. This is dark and broody while still retaining enough verve that head thrashing wouldn't be out of line. Visually and lyrically the band are very meticulous and very artistic yet rather harsh and stark. This is dark, to be sure, but more than just dark, it's human, too. This isn't reflective in a way that sparks self efficacy, but it isn't purely desolate either. It is reflective in a way that almost acknowledges the need for an alteration in direction. Thus, ironically, being something more than bleak. A very solid release and well worth your time.
