The Immortality Murder 2xCD (The End Records)

 Having already proven that they can push the envelope of black metal all that SCHOLOMANCE had left to prove was that they could expand their own horizons. With the release of "The Immortality Murder" double disk set, they have done just that. The first CD is the complete album per se. It consists of eight tracks of expressionistic black metal. Classic death vocals overlay an impressive mix of hard hitting metal and soaring keys. Each song on here manages to be both a firestorm of black metal and an exercise in atmospheric experimentation. The poetic lyrics are impressive as well. Disk two has a few instrumental versions of songs on the first disk as well as several improvised piano compositions that are rich and romantic, albeit melancholy. A very impressive effort from a very impressive band. I only wish SCHOLOMANCE was an example that more black/dark metal bands chose to follow!
