BCT Presents: Senza Tregua LP (Enterruption)

By: Jeb Branin

This is one I've been waiting for, the first 12" in the ongoing BCT re-release series. "Senza Tregua" is the LP version of the BCT compilation by the same name. It features a handful of the fiercest early 80s hardcore bands from Italy, including C.C.M., I Refuse It!, Stato Di Polizia (SDP GR), Putrid Fever, Juggernaut, Traumatic, and Wardogs. I don't know what they did to clean this sucker up, but the vinyl sounds much cleaner and louder than the original tape did. It's like listening to a brand new offering, not something I've had sitting in my collection for years on end. The improved sound emphasizes how far ahead of the game the early Italian hardcore scene was. Most of these bands rage with such a fury that they would be perfectly at home in the post-Y2K hardcore universe. Picking favorites would be useless, since it changes every time I listen, but I gotta worship at the alter of CCM (who it dawned on me sound like the Italian version of UNITED MUTATION-one of my all time favorite bands). I was also blown away by SDP. I have their 7" and don't remember liking it anywhere near as much as I like these tracks (odd since somewhere in my brain I have the thought these are the SAME tracks, I'd look it up, but I'm lazy). The icing on this hardcore delicacy is the full-color Winston Smith cover art. How many great punk albums over the decades have had WS or WS-inspired cover art? Tons. That's how many. As an extra bonus, the LP comes with a poster flat of the cover. Colored vinyl is available in eBay ready limited amounts, so you better head over to www.enterruption.com right now!
