Purusa Spectacle (Prepaid Friends) By: Alex Steininger
Low-key pop-rock, Purusa's brand of pop has a rock presence, and even some very rockin' moments, though their strength lies in the softer, melodic, and heartening pop songs like the opener, "Disappear". When they let the guitars blaze, allowing the bar rock to creep in ("Green Grass" and "Demand"), they seem to slip a bit and lose focus of their ability to really allow the listener to latch on and become part of the song. Unfortunately, the album is primarily the latter, with a few songs, like "How I Could", blending the two elements and leaving you somewhat satisfied. I'll give it a C-.
