Jagged Edge
A Jagged Era (SoSo Def Records)

By: ShortyDiva

I have got to tell you folks, these four young men from HOTLanta (Atlanta), have some truly blessed pipes. Case Dinero and Brasco (twins), Quick and Wingo Dollar have a sound that is more mature that their tender ages, which are all under 21. Signed under Jermaine Dupree (JD), of SoSo Def fame, their album is tight and even thorough for a first try at this music game. The CD is comprised of 10 songs, half on the ballad side and the other with a rougher edge, thereby creating their group name, Jagged Edge. The maturity of their vocals, the strength and mellow force that they place into expressing their lyrics is very commendable. They have managed to find that old school deliverance, which is greatly appreciated in today's urban music scene.

Jagged Era is an album with the usual sensual love themes. The songs are well written with Hip Hop influences, something that JD is known for. The album begins with a smooth groove entitled, "Slow Motion", which is somewhat entrancing. On the end of this track their lyrics take a tip from the late Tupac Shakur and his rendition of "Hail Mary", very smooth! My true favorite and in my eyes, an already love classic, is "Gotta Be". This song is so beautiful that you feel compelled to seek and find someone in which to express this sorta love to. If you're not in love, the song itself makes you wish that you were. The fella's get much prop with this groove.

On "Wednesday Lover" the guys have a little bit of an old school, "LTD sound". "Funny How", another ballad, is well versed and an example of these four singers talent. "The Way You Talk", their first release from the album is a sexy, funk built jam, with good freak lyrics. On "Rest Of Our Lives" the fellas take it down yet again with a wonderfully smooth song, for the lovers ears only.

This entire album, in my opinion, is well written, nicely produced and a view into the talents of these aspiring four. I also add that almost all of the tracks on the album were written by at least two members of the group. I say, very nicely done and I give this a well-rounded 4! I look forward to their next album, if it's anything like their first, we R&B fans are in for a few treats to the listening ear. Continue on Jagged Edge, I like your style.
