Jag Panzer
The Age of Mastery (Century Media Records)

By: Jeb Branin

The latest wave of progressive power metal is in full bloom and it shouldn't surprise anyone that JAG PANZER are at the forefront of that invasion. Their new CD "The Age of Mastery" picks up right where their breakthrough "The Fourth Judgement" left off. Razor sharp dual guitars drive the tunes and provide much of the melodic depth that now defines JAG PANZER. Harry "The Tyrant" Conklin's voice is stronger than ever and his uncanny ability to be both forceful and beautiful will certainly add hordes of new metal heads to the PANZER ranks. The production on this release is the best the band have ever been treated to and may set new standards for big league power metal. Indeed, Jim Morris deserves the band's eternal gratitude for his knob twirling. But without a doubt the key ingredient to the 'new and improved' JAG PANZER is their song smithing. Their skill and maturity adds a grandiose element to the tunes that is definitely their trump card.
