Green Carnation
Light of Day, Day of Darkness (The End)

By: Jeb Branin

This CD consists of a single hour long song. It is epic dark metal created by an ex-EMPEROR member and includes everything from sitar, to strings, to two different choirs. It was recorded using 150 tracks and almost 600 samples. While countless former black metal artists are trying to create music that is operatic in its scope and sound, GREEN CARNATION actually succeeds. There is such confidence and passion displayed on this recording that at no time does GREEN CARNATION feel the need to "remind" listeners that this is heavy metal by artificially trying to infuse generic black metal crap into the music. They just play and let the music speak for itself. While dark metal as a genre is falling apart due to repetition and sub-standard bands getting signed by big labels, The End Records and GREEN CARNATION may be end up being two of the scene's saviors.
