Green Carnation
A Blessing in Disguise (Season of Mist)

By: Jeb Branin

GREEN CARNATION's "A Blessing in Disguise" has the potential to single-handedly dismantle the mainstream popularity of so-called nu metal. How? By offering the masses a legitimate alternative. This wee piece of shiny plastic has the power, passion, crunch and contemporary melodic song-structures to actually appeal to a wide fan base while retaining the integrity and pathos to retain underground credibility. In twenty years of writing reviews of underground music I don't think I have ever lobbied for a band to get radio play before, but I honestly believe that if GREEN CARNATION can get one or two of its more straightforward songs on the airwaves, this could be the blueprint for the next ten years of popular heavy metal.
