SEV STATIK Tha Point Man By: [email protected]
In recent years, hip hop's focus has shifted from the original thought of true artists, to whatever seems to be raking in the most money at the time. We live in a sad era, when we no longer give praise to skill, creativity, and gifted musicianship, but to any talentless soul with a voice and the lethargic recipe for success. Fortunately, there has been a resurrection of everything we once loved, flowing from the underground scene. A mass of m.c.'s, d.j.'s, producers etc...have been keeping the art in top form. One of these artists is Albany's Sev Statik. "Tha Point Man," a four song promo, is the newest of his various projects. Throughout the tape, Sev displays a knack for crafty wordplay, this is especially shown on "Linguistic Weaponry," a song shock full of battle lyrics and verbal wit. There's nothing sweeter to the ears than a verse from someone who actually studies the art of rhyming. (excerpt from "linguistic weaponry") -my lyrics resonate through your brain / then bounce off the back of your eyes and vibrate your whole frame methane type achromatic brother / can't see or smell me, if I drop the wack lyrics out the frame hip hop brought me through backspins, graffiti pins, and record bins / currently I shake hand with mics few friends droppin' lethal scribes to make ends/ when... I was 12 years of age, Sev hit the palace stage. Sev Statik can be contacted for info. regarding upcoming projects etc... at e-mail ([email protected]) or by calling (518) 446-9518.
